Beach Pocket Park No. 1, 7 ½ Mile Rd. on FM 3005 (San Luis Pass Rd.) on the west end of Galveston Island. Its beachfront picnic area covers 7.5 acres with a playground, showers, restrooms, and a board-walk that connects to the beachfront area. Beach Pocket Park No. 2, 9 ½ Mile Rd. on FM 3005 (San Luis Pass Rd.) on the west end of Galveston Island. Its 5.5 acre of family usage facility has a playground, showers, restrooms, and a boardwalk to the beachfront area. Beach Pocket Park No. 3, 11 Mile Rd. on FM 3005 (San Luis Pass Rd.) on the west end of Galveston Island. This family usage park has a playground, showers, restrooms, and a boardwalk to the beachfront. Bolivar Peninsula, Can be called the "Lazy part" of Galveston, the eastern extreme of the county. Bolivar Peninsula is a narrow strip of land, separated from Galveston Island by less than three miles, by bolivar roads, which leads from the Gulf of Mexico to Galveston East Bay. It is available from Galveston via a 15 minute free Bolivar-Galveston Ferry ride, and leads to a 27-mile stretch of coastal territory — including the communities of Port Bolivar, Crystal Beach, Caplen, Gilchrist and High Island — much of which includes sandy beaches available to the public. Unusual recreational areas, include the incomparable fishing at Rollover Pass; birdwatching tracts; restaurants & lounges; hotels and motels; shopping facilities; and many rental cottages, help to create an exceptional coastal resort. Galveston Island State Park, 2000 acre track stretching from Galveston West Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. Both day use and overnight facilities for hook-ups are available.
